Securing the homestead

As with any trip of this magnitude, the last 2 weeks was a blur of making sure the homestead was taken care of when we are gone. We have two amazing folks watching our home and taking care of our animals while we are away and we spent lots of quality time with them making sure that they knew the ins and outs of keeping things running while we were gone. The check lists were long and eventually I had to come up with a spreadsheet to keep track of it all (I am a recovering engineer after all.)

Boat maintenance done, motorcycle put away, cars filled up and parked, trailers winterized, caretakers briefed, dog to our son's house, cat to our daughter's house, insurances updated, woodpecker holes filled, porch stained........etc. etc. etc. But we got it all done, I think, with at least 45 minutes to spare before we got picked up for our Bon Voyage party!
